Hyperliquid Labs, the organization behind the Hyperliquid decentralized exchange, is scheduled to receive its initial major allocation of HYPE tokens on January 6th, involving approximately 1.2 million tokens valued at about $312 million. HYPE, the native token, was introduced via an airdrop in November 2024, with 23.8% of the 1 billion total supply reserved for core contributors, subject to gradual unlocking. Hyperliquid co-founder iliensinc indicated that future distributions, if any, will occur on the 6th of each month. Currently, about 238.4 million HYPE tokens are in circulation, with over 61% of the total supply remaining locked. Hyperliquid remains the largest decentralized perpetuals DEX by volume, despite competition from newer rivals.
