Flow validators deploy fix, prepare for network restoration after security breach

Flow blockchain validators successfully deployed a protocol fix (Mainnet 28) following a security breach that exploited a vulnerability in the execution layer, resulting in approximately $3.9 million being siphoned, primarily to Ethereum via cross-chain bridges. The incident occurred on December 27, leading validators to halt the network to prevent further unauthorized transactions. The Flow Foundation confirmed the vulnerability is isolated, law enforcement is involved, and user funds held before the exploit remain safe. The network has been restored to a pre-exploit checkpoint and is currently operating in an idle, read-only mode while ecosystem partners synchronize. Transactions will resume once final coordination is complete, with a full technical post-mortem expected within 72 hours.
