Bitcoin Will See Strong But 'Not Spectacular' Returns Over Next Decade

Bitwise Chief Investment Officer Matt Hougan forecasts that Bitcoin (BTC) will undergo a "10-year grind upward of strong returns" over the next decade, characterized by lower volatility compared to past cycles, though the gains will not be "spectacular." Hougan maintains his prediction that 2026 will be a positive year for Bitcoin. He attributes the current 30% decline from its recent high, rather than the typical 60% drop seen in past cycles, to "persistent, slow-moving institutional buying" which is protecting the downside against the "fast-moving retail crowd" rotating out. Regarding political influence, Hougan believes the Trump administration is unlikely to provide significant further upside for Bitcoin's price due to the asset's already clearer regulatory positioning, a view echoed by ReserveOne CIO Sebastian Beau, who noted the SEC has classified Bitcoin as a commodity.
