Will and Dan Roberts, co-founders and co-CEOs of IREN Limited (IREN), are recognized for successfully pivoting the company from a renewable energy-powered bitcoin miner into a significant player in the artificial intelligence infrastructure sector. Founded in 2018, IREN anticipated the future need for affordable compute for AI. In fiscal year 2025, the company tripled its operating capacity to 810MW and saw revenue grow 168% to $501 million. A key milestone was securing a $9.7 billion, five-year contract with Microsoft, which included a $1.9 billion prepayment for GPU capacity at their Texas data center. IREN is now targeting $3.4 billion in AI Cloud annualized run-rate revenue by the end of 2026, supported by a massive GPU buildout and a 2GW Sweetwater AI campus planned for 2027, causing its stock to rise over 500% in 2025.
