Firestorm erupts in Aave governance forum over CoW Swap fees

A significant conflict has emerged within the Aave decentralized autonomous organization (DAO) governance forum concerning fees generated from the recent integration with the decentralized exchange aggregator, CoW Swap. A DAO member, EzR3aL, pointed out that the swap fees, estimated to be around $200,000 per week or $10 million annually, are being directed to a private address controlled by Aave Labs, rather than the Aave DAO treasury. Aave Labs defended its position by asserting that it is responsible for the front-end components and funded the development of the integration 'adapters.' However, several DAO members countered that the DAO funded the original adapter technology, meaning the revenue rightfully belongs to the DAO. Marc Zeller of the Aave-Chan Initiative called the routing decision "extremely concerning," accusing Aave Labs of redirecting user volume toward competition for its own monetization. The incident underscores the governance challenges inherent in operating a DAO.
