Spanish Authorities Bust Crypto Kidnapping Ring After Deadly Attack

Spanish police dismantled a criminal group operating across borders after arresting five people and charging four others in Denmark for the kidnapping and murder of a man targeted for his cryptocurrency. The investigation began in April when a woman reported that she and her partner were abducted in Mijas by masked, armed men. During the ordeal, the attackers attempted to gain access to the couple's crypto wallets. The man was shot while trying to escape and was later found dead in a wooded area, showing signs of violence beyond the gunshot wound. Authorities conducted raids in Madrid and Málaga, seizing weapons, blood-stained clothing, and other evidence. This case highlights the growing trend of physical attacks, known as "wrench attacks," aimed at extracting access to crypto wallets.
