Coinbase is About to Launch Prediction Markets and Tokenized Stocks: Report

Coinbase is expected to announce the launch of its own prediction markets, powered by U.S. operator Kalshi, and tokenized stocks next week during its "Coinbase System Update" showcase on December 17th. This move aligns with CEO Brian Armstrong's long-term vision for Coinbase to become an "everything exchange" offering crypto, tokenized equities, and event-based contracts. The expansion comes amid cooling investor interest in cryptocurrencies and increased competition from platforms like Robinhood, Gemini, and Kraken, which are also exploring alternative trading instruments like prediction markets and tokenized stocks. The partnership with Kalshi further integrates event contracts into mainstream trading, following Kalshi's previous integration with Robinhood.
