a16z Opens First Asia Office: Park From Naver and Monad to Lead

a16z crypto, the venture arm of Andreessen Horowitz, has launched its inaugural Asian office in Seoul, South Korea, recognizing Asia's growing dominance in global crypto adoption. COO Anthony Albanese announced the move, noting that the Asia-Pacific region accounted for $2.36 trillion in on-chain value in the year leading up to June 2025. South Korea is highlighted as the world's second-largest crypto market. To lead the new operations, a16z appointed Sungmo Park as Head of APAC go-to-market. Park brings significant regional experience from his previous roles at Monad Foundation, Polygon Labs, and as a product manager at Naver. The Seoul office will support a16z's portfolio companies entering Asian markets, forge strategic partnerships, and accelerate regional crypto adoption. Albanese indicated plans to grow the firm's Asian presence and capabilities in the coming years.
