The Protocol: Stripe’s Tempo Testnet Goes Live

Tempo, a payments-focused blockchain supported by Stripe and Paradigm, has launched its public testnet, marking a significant step toward mainstream stablecoin payments. The network also announced new partners, including Klarna, Kalshi, Mastercard, and UBS, joining earlier partners like Visa and OpenAI. Tempo is engineered for high-volume financial transactions, offering low fees—about one-tenth of a cent per transaction—instant finality, and native stablecoin support, aiming to resolve issues like network congestion and volatile gas fees common in current blockchain finance. This development aligns with the growing trend of building dedicated blockchains for stablecoin adoption, which is projected to become integral to cross-border B2B and P2P payments.
