JPMorgan CEO Jamie Dimon, in an interview, strongly refuted claims that his bank debanks customers due to their political or religious affiliations, asserting, "We debank people who are Democrats. We debank people who are Republicans." He clarified that while the bank does debank individuals, political affiliation is never the reason. Dimon also stated he has been advocating for over 15 years to change the reporting requirements that lead to debanking, which he finds "customer unfriendly." He noted that both Democratic and Republican administrations have pressured banks, and he urged politicians to stop "militarizing the government" and instead focus on fixing the underlying problems causing debanking, which can stem from suspected issues or negative media coverage.
