French Banking Giant BPCE to Roll Out Crypto Trading for 2M Retail Clients
Summary
Major French banking group BPCE is launching cryptocurrency trading services for its retail customers through the Banque Populaire and Caisse d’Épargne applications, beginning with a pilot phase for about 2 million clients starting Monday. Initially, customers of four regional banks will be able to buy and sell Bitcoin (BTC), Ether (ETH), Solana (SOL), and USDC. The service is facilitated through a separate digital asset account managed by Hexarq, BPCE’s crypto subsidiary, which incurs a 2.99 euro monthly fee plus a 1.5% transaction commission. BPCE intends to expand access to its entire 12-million-strong retail base throughout 2026. This move follows similar initiatives by other European banks like BBVA and Santander's Openbank.
