Coinbase incubated Ethereum L2 Base network rolls out bridge to Solana

Base, the Ethereum Layer 2 incubated by Coinbase, has officially launched a bridge connecting it to the Solana network, utilizing Chainlink's Cross-Chain Interoperability Protocol (CCIP) for the integration. This move aims to simplify asset movement across chains, enabling builders on Base to support Solana assets in their applications and allowing users to trade Solana assets on Base, furthering Base's goal to be a hub for the "everything economy." The bridge allows for the export of Base assets to Solana and vice versa, ensuring users can interact with assets across both chains within integrated applications. The security of the bridge relies on a "bespoke cross-chain oracle" where both Coinbase and Chainlink node operators independently verify all messages to ensure safe and reliable token transfers.
