Solana’s Drift Launches v3, With 10x Faster Trades
Summary
Drift, a major perpetuals trading platform on Solana, has released Drift v3, a significant upgrade designed to match the speed and smoothness of centralized exchanges (CEXs) for on-chain trading. This new version boasts a 10-times faster trade execution due to a rebuilt backend. The team projects that approximately 85% of market orders will now fill in under half a second, and liquidity improvements will lower slippage on large trades to about 0.02%. Furthermore, tools like stop-loss and take-profit orders will update much faster, operating within a single Solana slot, and oracle prices will refresh on the same timeline. Gas fees will remain abstracted away for users. Alongside performance enhancements, Drift v3 introduces a refreshed user interface with clearer account displays and a simpler borrow-lend section. Core contributor Cindy Leow stated that the upgrade reflects a commitment to delivering CEX-level performance on Solana. Future plans include implementing auto-signing, easier deposits, isolated margin, a mobile app, and a new Liquidity Provider Pool.
