Solana Mobile says SKR token launch is coming in January
Summary
Solana Mobile, a subsidiary of Solana Labs, confirmed that the native token for its mobile device ecosystem, SKR, is scheduled to launch in January 2026. Solana Labs co-founder Anatoly Yakovenko referenced the timeline in a post on X. The SKR token, which has a total supply of 10 billion, is designed to power control, economics, incentives, and ownership within the ecosystem and will be distributed to builders and users. At launch, 30% of the tokens are earmarked for airdrops targeting "Seeker users, active dApp users, etc."
This announcement follows the progress of Solana Mobile's second-generation handset, the Seeker, which has received 150,000 preorders and is currently shipping to buyers globally. The Seeker is an Android device featuring blockchain integrations like hardware security (Seed Vault key storage), a built-in Solana dApp Store, and an onchain Genesis Token.
Further details regarding the vision for the SKR token will be shared at the Breakpoint 2025 conference in Abu Dhabi, scheduled for December 11-13.
