Terraform Labs co-founder Do Kwon is arguing before his upcoming sentencing that a prison term exceeding five years would be excessive for his role in the $40 billion TerraUSD collapse. Kwon pleaded guilty in August to conspiracy and wire fraud after being extradited from Montenegro. His defense contends that the 12-year ceiling in the plea agreement is too harsh, considering he has already spent nearly three years in detention, often under difficult conditions, and has agreed to forfeit over $19 million and several properties to US prosecutors. Furthermore, Kwon still faces prosecution in South Korea for the same conduct, where prosecutors are seeking a 40-year sentence. He is scheduled to appear before Judge Paul Engelmayer on December 11.
