Uniswap launches ‘Continuous Clearing Auctions’ to improve token price discovery and liquidity in DeFi

The Block
Uniswap introduced Continuous Clearing Auctions (CCA) to create transparent, onchain token launches and immediately seed v4 liquidity pools.

Summary

Uniswap has launched Continuous Clearing Auctions (CCA), a new permissionless protocol designed to run customizable token auctions directly on Uniswap v4, aiming to fix the fragmented and opaque nature of current token launches. CCA conducts auctions block by block, ensuring pricing, bidding, and settlement occur transparently onchain without gatekeepers. Bidders place orders, and each block settles at a single market-clearing price, reducing sniping and encouraging fair price discovery. Upon conclusion, the auction proceeds automatically seed a Uniswap v4 pool at the final price, establishing immediate liquidity for secondary trading. The system was developed in collaboration with Aztec, which offers an optional ZK Passport module for private yet verifiable participation. This launch is part of Uniswap's broader strategy to release tools that help projects launch and sustain liquidity on v4.
