Leading Base DEX Aerodrome Merges Into Aero in Major Overhaul

CoinDesk
Dromos Labs is overhauling its DEX infrastructure by merging Aerodrome and Velodrome into a unified system called Aero.

Summary

Dromos Labs, the developer behind Aerodrome on Base and Velodrome on Optimism, announced a major overhaul with the launch of Aero, a unified trading system that will merge its existing platforms across both networks and expand to other Ethereum chains. Aerodrome is currently the leading DEX on Base by volume and fees, and Dromos Labs intends for Aero, which will feature faster and cheaper onchain fees, to become a central liquidity hub, expanding to Ethereum mainnet in Q2 2026. Alongside Aero, the company revealed METADEX03, the latest version of its MetaDEX operating system, which includes a dual-engine architecture and Slipstream V3—an embedded MEV auction designed to internalize value typically captured by arbitrage bots, aiming to push DeFi past traditional finance in efficiency.
