PrizePicks Partners with Polymarket to Bring Prediction Markets to Fantasy Sports Users

PrizePicks has partnered with Polymarket to integrate the latter's event contracts into its fantasy sports application, allowing users to predict outcomes across sports, entertainment, and cultural events. This move follows PrizePicks becoming the first sports entertainment operator registered as a Futures Commission Merchant (FCM) with the NFA, enabling it to offer CFTC-regulated derivatives contracts nationwide. The integration is slated to roll out upon Polymarket's official return to the U.S. market, following its 2022 exit after a CFTC fine. Polymarket has prepared for its U.S. return by acquiring the CFTC-licensed exchange QCEX and securing a major investment from Intercontinental Exchange (ICE). While this partnership expands interactive sports engagement, the prediction market landscape faces regulatory headwinds, with several states challenging event-based contracts as unlicensed betting, and concerns noted regarding artificial trading activity on Polymarket.
