The Berachain Foundation successfully recovered $12.8 million after an exploit targeted its native decentralized exchange, Bex, and the Balancer V2 protocol on the EVM-identical Layer-1 blockchain. The recovery was facilitated through coordination with a white hat hacker. To secure the assets, Berachain distributed a hard fork binary to validators to block unauthorized transfers of the exploited assets, subsequently implementing a hard fork and chain restart.
