Wintermute boss denies plans to sue Binance over the Oct. 10 crash

Wintermute CEO Evgeny Gaevoy has publicly refuted claims that his firm intends to sue Binance over losses incurred during the October 10th market crash, which resulted in approximately $20 billion in liquidated positions. Gaevoy dismissed the rumors as “complete bullshit” in a post on X, responding to claims made by a user named WhalePump Reborn. The initial claim alleged that Wintermute was seeking reimbursement for unconfirmed losses and that Binance disagreed with the amount requested. Former Binance CEO Changpeng Zhao urged users to rely on official sources for information. Despite the denial, Wintermute faced prior accusations of contributing to the crash by transferring $700 million to a Binance hot wallet shortly before the downturn. The crypto market experienced a 3% decline on Monday, potentially influenced by the false rumors and leveraged position liquidations.
