Fidelity Crypto Finally Allows Users to Send and Receive Bitcoin as UK ETP Gains Regulatory Approval

Bitcoin Magazine
Fidelity Crypto now permits Bitcoin withdrawals to external wallets, coinciding with its UK Bitcoin ETP gaining regulatory approval for retail access.

Summary

Fidelity Crypto has enabled customers to withdraw Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies to external wallets, granting users full self-custody control more than two years after launching its retail platform. Concurrently, Fidelity made a significant move toward mainstream adoption by making its Physical Bitcoin ETP, launched in February 2022, available to UK retail clients after the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) lifted its ban on crypto exchange-traded products (ETPs) for retail investors on October 8th. Dennis Pellerito, head of UK wholesale at Fidelity International, stated that this ETP offers institutional-grade access to Bitcoin in a simple, secure format, addressing the limitations retail investors previously faced. The ETP, which tracks Bitcoin's price and is listed on several European exchanges, recently saw its ongoing charges figure (OCF) reduced to 0.25% to enhance accessibility.
