IREN, Cipher Mining (CIFR) Strike Multi-Billion AI Cloud Deals with Microsoft and Amazon

IREN Limited and Cipher Mining Inc., both Bitcoin miners pivoting to AI infrastructure, announced significant deals boosting their stock performance. IREN signed a five-year, $9.7 billion agreement with Microsoft for GPU cloud computing services, utilizing NVIDIA GB300 GPUs at its Texas campus, positioning IREN as a key hyperscaler partner. This deal, alongside a $5.8 billion agreement with Dell for infrastructure, is projected to generate nearly $1.94 billion in annualized revenue for IREN once fully deployed.

Meanwhile, Cipher Mining secured a 15-year, $5.5 billion lease agreement with Amazon Web Services (AWS) to provide 300 megawatts of capacity for AI workloads, starting in 2026. Combined with previous contracts, Cipher's AI hosting contracts total approximately $8.5 billion in lease payments. The market is rewarding these miners for evolving into hybrid tech infrastructure operators that monetize capacity beyond just Bitcoin mining, offering diversified revenue streams.
