Telegram Founder Unveils Cocoon: A New Decentralized AI Network on TON Blockchain

Telegram founder Pavel Durov announced Cocoon (Confidential Compute Open Network) at Blockchain Life 2025 in Dubai. Cocoon functions as a marketplace where GPU owners share processing power, earning Toncoin (TON), while developers pay to run AI programs confidentially.

The network emphasizes privacy by ensuring all processed data remains encrypted, addressing concerns about centralized AI providers like Google and Amazon seeing user inputs. Telegram plans to be the first major customer, integrating Cocoon into its mini-apps starting November 2025 for features like message summarization, keeping user data private.

The launch has garnered significant support, including a major investment from AlphaTON Capital to deploy necessary GPU infrastructure. Durov views Cocoon as crucial for regaining digital freedoms lost over the last two decades. While facing competition from existing decentralized networks and tech giants, Cocoon's integration with Telegram's billion-user base positions it uniquely for mainstream adoption in the decentralized AI space.
