Pro-crypto org backs Andrew Cuomo for NYC mayor as election approaches

As the New York City mayoral election nears, the pro-digital assets political organization, 9 Innovate NY, endorsed independent candidate and former Governor Andrew Cuomo, funding the effort with nearly $100,000.

The group, which supports an agenda including blockchain and tokenization, spent $30,000 on a flyer supporting Cuomo and opposing Democratic candidate Zohran Mamdani, who is leading in many polls. The NYC mayoral race is significant to the crypto industry due to the city's economic role.

Cuomo has recently courted crypto-minded voters by promising to establish an Innovation Council focused on crypto and AI if elected, whereas Mamdani has focused on cost-of-living issues. This contrasts with current Mayor Eric Adams, who has actively promoted crypto policies, including establishing a digital assets and blockchain office.
