CZ weighing lawsuit against US senator over money laundering claim: Report

Former Binance CEO Changpeng “CZ” Zhao is reportedly considering filing a libel lawsuit against Massachusetts Senator Elizabeth Warren following her public statements regarding his recent presidential pardon by Donald Trump. Zhao's lawyer, Teresa Goody Guillén, demanded that Warren retract statements made in an October 23 X post, which alleged CZ "pleaded guilty to a criminal money laundering charge" and that he "financed President Trump’s stablecoin" in exchange for the pardon. Zhao pleaded guilty in November 2023 to violating the Bank Secrecy Act by failing to maintain an effective Anti-Money Laundering program, not a money laundering charge as Warren claimed. Zhao's legal team stated he reserves the right to pursue all legal remedies if the statements are not retracted. This potential suit follows previous defamation threats made by CZ against Bloomberg.
