XRP and SOL Futures Open Interest on CME Hits Record High
Summary
Open interest for XRP and Solana (SOL) futures listed on the CME reached a record high of approximately $3 billion on Monday, indicating sustained institutional and retail interest in regulated exposure to these altcoins. The activity included a record 9,900 active XRP contracts and 15,600 open positions in standard and micro SOL futures. Tim McCourt, the exchange’s Global Head of Equity & FX Products, noted at the Token2049 conference in Dubai that this milestone reflects the increasing adoption of regulated futures for managing risk and gaining exposure in the growing crypto market. Both the standard SOL futures, launched in March, and the XRP futures, launched three months prior, had previously crossed the $1 billion notional open interest mark in August.
