Binance comeback? CZ’s pardon reignites talk of a US return

Following the pardon of Binance founder Changpeng “CZ” Zhao by US President Donald Trump, industry executives and analysts are speculating about the possibility of Binance re-entering the United States. CZ indicated a desire to help make America the "capital of crypto" and changed his social media bio to "Binance," further fueling rumors. David Namdar, CEO of BNB Network Company, suggested the pardon could pave the way for greater access to the US market for Binance and potentially benefit BNB. Binance had previously spun off Binance.US in 2019 to serve US residents, but this entity lacks access to the global exchange's liquidity. The pardon itself is politically divisive; Trump claimed CZ was "persecuted" by the Biden administration, while Democratic lawmakers like Maxine Waters criticized it as signaling "pay-to-play" mechanics. CZ previously pleaded guilty to violating the US Bank Secrecy Act by failing to maintain an effective Anti-Money Laundering program, resulting in a four-month jail sentence.
