The Zurich-based, Bitcoin-only application Relai has become one of the first such firms to secure regulatory approval under the EU's Markets in Crypto-Assets (MiCA) regulation, receiving authorization as a Crypto-Asset Service Provider (CASP) from France's Financial Markets Authority (AMF). This early authorization provides Relai a significant advantage over larger exchanges still navigating the licensing process and allows the company to 'passport' its services across all 27 EU member states after notification procedures are complete.
