Ledger and Trezor 2025 hardware wallets released: What’s new for users?

Cointelegraph
Ledger and Trezor have launched new hardware wallets, the Nano Gen5 and Safe 7, introducing updated features and security enhancements for self-custody users.

Summary

Major hardware wallet providers Ledger and Trezor have released new device iterations. Ledger introduced the Ledger Nano Gen5, rebranding its devices as “Ledger signers” and updating its app to Ledger Wallet, while also launching Ledger Multisig to address blind signing vulnerabilities. The Nano Gen5 features a larger screen, Bluetooth, and the Ledger Recovery Key, priced at $179/179 euros, continuing design collaborations with Tony Fadell and Susan Kare.

Trezor released the Safe 7, marketed as its first quantum-ready wallet, priced at 249 euros. It features dual secure elements (TROPIC01 chip and EAL6+ secondary element), Bluetooth connectivity, and wireless charging. Trezor's COO, Danny Sanders, stated the quantum-readiness means it can receive future post-quantum updates.

Both companies confirmed that their older wallets remain functional and supported, though Ledger noted there is a point where supporting new features on very old products becomes infeasible.
